Key points of processing titanium pipe and titanium plate in pressure vessel

Mar 30, 2022

Pressure parts must be marked with materials. The corrosion-resistant surface of titanium (including titanium pipe and titanium plate) shall not be hard printed as a material confirmation mark. If the non-corrosion-resistant surface is marked with hard print, the tool shall be made of titanium alloy or stainless steel. At the same time, the mark shall be composed of smooth dots and lines to minimize its residual stress.

The titanium container manufacturing site shall be paved with a soft cushion to avoid damaging the material surface. Whether it is the manufacturing site or the cutting, processing, and forming site, the sundries such as iron oxide scale or iron filings shall be cleaned frequently to prevent the titanium material from being polluted by iron.

When marking on titanium materials, metal pencils shall be used as much as possible, and punching is generally not allowed. The titanium plate and pipe of the equipment are made of Gr 3 titanium, but in order to take into account the economy, some equipment will choose composite plate materials. At this time, the processing and marking of the titanium steel composite plate should be carried out on the base steel plate to avoid polluting titanium metal. In order to prevent delamination during cutting, pay attention to the steel base downward, so as to avoid excessive deformation of the titanium composite layer.

The head shall be hot formed as far as possible during pressing, and attention shall be paid to the temperature of the heat treatment curve or the initial pressing temperature marked on the head certificate. In order to prevent the surface oxidation of titanium, the heating temperature shall not exceed 800 ℃. If cold forming is adopted, 100 ~ 350 ℃ hot sizing shall be adopted as far as possible after forming.
