Proportion Of Titanium For Aircraft

Apr 12, 2022

Russia VSMPO uses a 75000t forging press to produce ti-10v-2fe-3al (Ti-1023) alloy forgings. The forgings weigh 3175kg and the projected area of the forgings is 1.23m. Proportion of titanium for aircraft.jpg

It is the world's largest aviation forgings. It is used for the main landing gear load beams of the world's large aircraft B777 and A380. In addition, it is reported that ti-5al-5mo-5v-3cr alloy heavy forgings have been used in the landing gear of large aircraft.

The amount of titanium used by the U.S. fighter F-22 is 41%, and the structure uses 36t titanium. It is a representative of the fourth-generation fighter. It is equipped with two F119 engines and two engines use 5T titanium. Ti-6Al-4V, ti-6al-4veli, and ti-62222 titanium alloys are used. The compressor baffle, supercharger, and nozzle of the F119 engine now use flame retardant alloy alloys (ti-35v-15 CR).

Six titanium alloy materials are selected for the 22 fighters, with a total of 4028kg.

Ti-6Al-4V Alloy accounts for about 36%. It is mainly used for the main engine hinge joint, auxiliary rudder frame, auxiliary rudder hinges joint, auxiliary rudder cover, and auxiliary rudder joint.Ti-GAl-4VELI alloy is mainly used for front and rear truss, longitudinal beam, wing beam, tail wing beam and tail rib, spacer frame, and engine body.

Ti-6al-2sn-2mo-2zr-2cr-0.2si (ti-62222) alloy is mainly used for front beam, lower longitudinal beam, engine support, flat tail hinge shaft, and tail joint.

Other titanium alloy materials include Ti-6242、Ti-1023、Ti-153 and Ti-3AI-2.5V. The amount of these alloys account for about 4%.
