Tungsten Screws for High-Temperature Environments

Nov 03, 2025

Tungsten screws are mechanical fasteners made primarily of tungsten, manufactured through advanced processing techniques. These parts possess high-temperature resistance and are widely used in equipment connections in extreme environments such as high-temperature melting furnaces and sintering furnaces. They are also used in special shielding applications in the semiconductor and electronics industries.

Products are manufactured using CNC precision machining equipment, with surfaces polished or sandblasted to enhance aesthetics. Customized thread specifications (GB, UK, US) are available to meet specific needs, and personalized size designs are supported. To prevent oxidation, finished products are preserved using vacuum packaging technology.

Tungsten screws are made from high-purity tungsten rods or plates through multiple advanced processing steps. The manufacturing process utilizes precision CNC lathes, machining centers, and wire cutting equipment to ensure thread accuracy of ±0.02mm. After high-temperature sintering, the crystal structure densification rate reaches over 98%, resulting in stable mechanical properties.

Tungsten screws maintain structural integrity even at 1800℃, and their coefficient of thermal expansion is only 1/3 that of steel. The surface undergoes a special treatment to form a dense oxide layer of 5-10 μm, improving corrosion resistance by 45%. However, the material is highly brittle, with impact strength only 1/8 that of titanium alloys, making it unsuitable for applications with vibration frequencies exceeding 200 Hz.

Tungsten screws are used in conjunction with molybdenum components in high-temperature heat treatment equipment to ensure the furnace remains airtight after 3000 hours of continuous operation. During assembly, a torque wrench should be used to control the tightening force; a tightening torque range of 1.5-6 N·m is recommended. The screws should not be reused more than three times, and should be scrapped if the thread clearance exceeds 0.1 mm. The storage environment humidity must be controlled below 30% RH to prevent hydrogen embrittlement of the tungsten material.
