What are the requirements for AWSA5.14 nickel and nickel alloy welding wire?

Jul 16, 2025

1. Composition requirements
AWSA5.14 Nickel and nickel alloy welding wire mainly requires chemical composition, such as ERNi-1 main component: nickel (Ni) content>92%~99%, and containing trace elements such as titanium (Ti, 2.0%~3.5%), manganese (Mn ≤ 1.0%), iron (Fes1.0%), etc. The addition of titanium can refine the grain size and reduce the risk of porosity, while low sulfur and phosphorus content (S ≤ 0.015%, P ≤ 0.03%) reduces the tendency for hot cracking; Mainly used for welding nickel and nickel alloy metals.

2. Tensile strength requirements
The specific tensile strength is specified in the standard, among which the common nickel welding wire grade ERNi-1 has a tensile strength greater than or equal to 380MPa,
3. Elongation requirements
The AWSA5.14 standard does not require elongation, but if necessary, it can be specified in the contract (≥ 28%~36%, ERNi-1 nickel welding wire has excellent plasticity and toughness, suitable for cold forming high stress environments).
