On July 28, the 2022 annual meeting of the titanium zirconium and hafnium branch and the titanium zirconium and hafnium Industry Development Summit Forum were held in Baoji City, Shaanxi Province. The development of the titanium industry in China still faces challenges.
First, The high-end industry can not fully meet the needs. The processing quality of titanium strips, ultra thick titanium plates, large wall thickness pipes, aviation fasteners, and other products are not up to the standard, and they still cannot get rid of the situation of relying on foreign imports. The output of high-quality sponge titanium is still difficult to meet the needs of high-end titanium production. Second, the low-end overcapacity in the titanium processing industry is prominent. Industrial concentration is not high, product homogeneity is serious, and competition is fierce. Third, the resource bottleneck remains, and the external dependence on raw materials is too high. In 2021, the overall dependence of titanium raw materials on foreign countries is 40%, and the dependence on rutile is as high as 90%.
Baoji is the national R & D and production base of new materials and the cradle of China's titanium industry. The city covers more than 590 enterprises engaged in the scientific research, production, processing, trade, and circulation of rare metals such as titanium, tungsten, molybdenum, zirconium, and hafnium. It has titanium products of more than 5000 specifications and is equipped with domestic aircraft carriers, large aircraft, "striver" and Tiangong series space laboratories, which are used in civil fields such as medical health, sports, and leisure.
This year, Baoji has established the titanium Valley Group and titanium industry college and is accelerating the promotion of Zhengwei's new material technology city with an investment of 20 billion yuan, and the titanium and a new material industrial park covering an area of 3500 mu. The 100 billion level titanium industry cluster is accelerating its growth.
At present, Baoji takes titanium and titanium alloy as the key industrial chain, and focuses on the goal of building "titanium capital in the world · titanium Valley in China", vigorously implementing six major projects: the expansion of leading enterprises, the agglomeration of small and medium-sized enterprises, the extension and strengthening of the chain, the improvement of innovation ability, the introduction and training of talents, and the optimization of service system, and strives to achieve the goal of "1151" at the end of the 14th five-year plan.
In the future, Baoji will strengthen strategic communication, strengthen innovation guidance, pool the wisdom of all parties, expand "titanium application", improve "titanium quality", promote "titanium upgrading", and jointly contribute "titanium" strength to the construction of manufacturing power.
