Gr5 titanium alloy, also known as Ti-6Al-4V, is a high-strength, high-toughness titanium alloy. Titanium alloy has strong corrosion resistance in a variety of media, especially in neutral and oxidizing media. It has good corrosion resistance to most alkaline solutions, but not in boiling sodium hydroxide solution. Titanium alloy is not corroded in seawater and is also very resistant to corrosion in most organic acids (except formic acid and oxalic acid).
Gr5 titanium alloy was originally developed for the aviation market and is widely used in aviation structural components. Due to its very good biocompatibility, it is also widely recognized in the medical industry. Typical applications include aviation engine components, fuselage components, ship equipment, offshore oil and gas equipment, power generation, chemical industry, automotive sports parts, medical equipment, surgical implants, and sports equipment.
Titanium Gr5 alloy (UNS R56400) is the most widely used titanium alloy. Alpha is a two-phase α+β titanium alloy with vanadium as a stabilizer and aluminum as a β stabilizer. This high-strength alloy can be used in environments ranging from 427°C (800°F) to extremely cold environments. Ti 6Al-4V, titanium Gr5 alloy, is generally in the annealed state, and can also be solution-hardened and aged according to customer requirements.
