On April 20, 2024, Baoji Fairy Titanium Industry Co., Ltd. shipped Gr1 titanium sheets, Gr2 titanium plates, and Gr5 titanium plates to customers. A total of 1.1 tons of titanium plates were shipped this time. Titanium is widely used in chemical, marine, water treatment, and other fields due to its excellent corrosion resistance.
Gr1 titanium is one of the purest titanium grades, containing 99.5% pure titanium. This high purity gives it good ductility and softness. Gr2 titanium, also known as commercially pure titanium alloy or CP titanium, is 99% pure titanium. It has not been alloyed and has unique stability and corrosion resistance. Gr5 titanium Ti-6Al-4V alloy (Grade 5), which contains 90% titanium, 6% aluminum, and 4% vanadium, has higher strength and better biocompatibility (Gr5eli Gr23).
Titanium plates have the characteristics of high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. They are widely used in the chemical industry to manufacture storage tanks, reactors, heat exchangers, pipelines, containers, etc. In addition, titanium plates are also used to manufacture marine engineering equipment such as offshore platforms, offshore oil drilling platforms, and submarine pipelines.
In the field of water treatment, titanium anodes based on titanium plates have also been widely used. The advantages of titanium anodes in the water treatment industry mainly include their corrosion resistance, high conductivity, and long life. A dense oxide film (TiO₂) is formed on the surface of the titanium anode, which makes it perform well in strong acid or strong alkali environments, and the corrosion rate is only 1/50 of that of traditional lead electrodes. For example, in the chlor-alkali industry, after the titanium anode has been continuously operated for 8000 hours in a hydrochloric acid solution at 90℃ and 5mol/L, the electrode loss rate is less than 0.1mm/year, and the life span is more than 5 times that of traditional materials.
