The evaporating boat is a collective term for all evaporating vessels, and its components and materials vary depending on the purpose of use. Due to its simple structure and convenient use, it is the most widely used evaporative source.
Common materials for evaporation boats include tungsten, molybdenum, tantalum, graphite, etc. Usually, boat-shaped evaporation sources are made of tungsten materials, and now evaporation boats are also made of conductive high-performance ceramic composite materials. The main raw materials used are boron nitride and titanium diboride. The evaporation surface can be grooved or laser surface etched, with reliable performance, accurate evaporation rate, and long service life.
The evaporative tungsten boat has the characteristics of high density, high melting point, high strength, high hardness, low evaporation speed, low vapor pressure, high-temperature resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and good conductivity and thermal conductivity. Widely used in vacuum coatings or annealing industries such as gold plating, evaporators, imaging tubes, heating containers, electron beam spray paint, household appliances, consumer electronics, semiconductors, and various decorations.
Molybdenum evaporation boats are suitable for high-temperature environments. After doping with lanthanum oxide (molybdenum lanthanum), the ductility and corrosion resistance of molybdenum are further enhanced. Widely used in vacuum furnaces, glass furnaces, coating technology, electronics industry, power engineering, capacitor sintering, nuclear fuel sintering, thermocouple casings, etc.
Usage of evaporation boat
1. The two rows of fixtures should be aligned and the surface should be kept smooth;
2. Graphite paper should be used on the end face or side to ensure good electrical contact and thermal conductivity;
3. When the new boat is first heated, place a section of aluminum wire in the center of the groove to accurately determine the temperature of the evaporating boat (note: this method cannot be used when using a slotless triangular boat);
4. The contact point of the aluminum wire should be located at one-third to half of the boat length;
5. The first heating of the new boat should not be too fast to avoid affecting the deflation;
6. For the first time using the new boat, the aluminum delivery speed should gradually increase from around 75% of the normal value, and the power should be gradually reduced to achieve a larger liquid aluminum spreading area.
