What type of metal material can resist the corrosion of hydrobromic acid?

Nov 17, 2022

Tantalum, niobium, and zirconium can resist boiling hydrobromic acid of 48%, but niobium may suffer from hydrogen embrittlement. When free bromine exists in the system, titanium can also be used.

Pure hydrobromic acid is not corrosive. When 30% dilute hydrobromic acid is at room temperature, super stainless steel 904L N08904 materials are corrosive. In this state, pure titanium GR1 and titanium GR2 is a good choice.
