Due to different materials, their application scenarios are also different. Tungsten boats are usually used in melting experiments at extremely high temperatures, such as high-temperature casting, sintering, and vacuum distillation of metals and glass; while molybdenum boats are more suitable for experiments at lower temperatures, such as solid-state reactions, semiconductor processes, solar cell production, and other common experiments.
In terms of price, due to different materials, tungsten boats are relatively more expensive, while molybdenum boats are more affordable. The specific choice of which material to use depends on the particular requirements of the experiment.
In addition, during the thermal evaporation coating process, the heating methods of tungsten boats and molybdenum boats are the same, but their temperature resistance is different. Boron nitride ceramic substitutes can be used under vacuum, which is cheaper, has a longer life, and will not pollute the product.
Tungsten boats can also be called evaporation boats, evaporated tungsten boats, or coated tungsten boats, which are formed by high-temperature stamping of tungsten sheets.
Types: Tungsten boats are available in stamping boats, folding boats, welding boats, riveted boats, etc.
Features: wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
Uses: Tungsten boats are widely used in vacuum coating industries such as gold plating, evaporators, CRT mirrors, heating containers, electron beam spraying, household appliances (housings), mobile phones, toys, and various decorations, as well as boat industries that require sintering or vacuum annealing in sintering furnaces.
Under ideal (vacuum, dry) conditions, connect wires at both ends of the tungsten boat and power it on, place the low-melting-point metal in the middle recess, and wait until its temperature rises below 2000 degrees. The metal will evaporate into gas and be plated on the surface of the workpiece above.
In addition to tungsten boats and molybdenum boats, we can also produce tungsten foil, tungsten rods, molybdenum foil, molybdenum sheets, etc. For more information about tungsten and molybdenum boat prices, please contact our sales engineers.
