Gr4 Ti screws are a kind of metal screw or bolt made of titanium grade 4, it has higher strength than pure titanium gr2, but are softer than titanium alloy gr5 6al4v, ti gr4 screw is widely used in the electroplating industry and others like the chemical industry, etc.

3. There are two kinds of titanium screw processing: hot heading and machining. Machining titanium screws are often produced with GR5 6al4v titanium. The main reason is that this titanium alloy has high hardness and good comprehensive mechanical properties, which is more suitable for machining. The hot heading is mainly naturally forming, so it is required that the material should not be too hard. Among titanium, grade 2 and grade 4 titanium are more suitable for hot heading. GR4 Ti screws are usually processed by hot heading. Gr2 GR4 titanium has a soft texture, with a lasting strength of more than 400MPa for 100h at 350 ℃, and has good plasticity during hot processing.

1) | Atmospheric thermal oxidation treatment: directly heat pure titanium or titanium alloy parts in the atmosphere from 750 ℃ to 1000 ℃, so that a layer of rutile crystalline titanium dioxide (rutile) is formed on the surface of pure titanium or titanium alloy, and the surface hardness can reach hv1100. However, the oxide layer made by this method presents gray color, no metallic luster, and a rough surface. When applied to general commercial products, post-treatment is usually required |
2) | Atmospheric thermal oxidation + vacuum diffusion treatment: the pure titanium or titanium alloy parts after atmospheric thermal oxidation treatment are further kept in the vacuum heat treatment furnace for a period of time between 750 ℃ and 850 ℃, so as to crystallize and decompose the titanium dioxide on the surface, and generate oxygen to diffuse into the crystalline structure of pure titanium or titanium alloy, so as to produce the solid solution hardening effect of the metal base, The higher the oxygen content, the higher the hardness, but this method will cause the coarsening of crystal particles, which will significantly reduce the surface finish and is not easy to polish. |
3) | Vacuum thermal oxidation nitriding diffusion treatment: nitrogen and a certain proportion of oxygen or water vapor are introduced into the vacuum furnace, and the temperature is maintained at 700 ℃ ~ 800 ℃ under fixed vacuum pressure for a period of time, so that the nitrogen and oxygen diffuse into the crystalline structure of pure titanium or titanium alloy, resulting in a hardening layer of a nitrogen-oxygen solid solution of a certain thickness on the surface of pure titanium or titanium alloy parts, This method can obviously improve the grain coarsening and surface roughness in method 2, but the ratio of nitrogen to oxygen or water vapor and heat treatment temperature must be carefully controlled in the process, otherwise the surface discoloration and roughness of pure titanium or titanium alloy will occur. |
4) | Ion nitriding method: place pure titanium or titanium alloy parts in a vacuum furnace, apply high voltage, and introduce nitrogen to produce nitrogen ions. Nitrogen ions are attracted by the electrode composed of pure titanium or titanium alloy, impact the electrode surface at high speed, generate high temperature, promote nitrogen atoms to penetrate into titanium metal base material, and produce a chemical reaction on the surface, A diffusion layer containing nitrogen and a titanium nitride compound layer is formed on the surface of titanium metal. In this method, in addition to the infiltration of nitrogen atoms into pure titanium or titanium alloy, a titanium nitride crystal layer is also formed on the surface. Therefore, the hardness is much higher than that of the oxidation method, but it will greatly increase the surface roughness of pure titanium or titanium alloy |
5) | Vacuum physical evaporation method: a layer of hard film is directly plated on the surface of pure titanium or titanium alloy by vacuum physical evaporation method. Although this method does not damage the surface roughness of pure titanium or titanium alloy, due to the limited coating thickness, it can not provide effective hardening performance for the soft substrate of pure titanium or titanium alloy. |
