Molybdenum rods usually need to be forged to increase density and improve the microstructure. The surface of the sintered molybdenum rod is silver-gray.
Forged molybdenum rod (forged TZM rod, forged high-temperature molybdenum rod)
Also known as a forged molybdenum rod, it is commonly referred to as black skinned molybdenum rod in the industry due to the presence of an oxide layer on its surface. Slight oxide film and hammer marks are allowed on the surface of forged molybdenum bars. The density and microstructure of forged molybdenum rods are directly related to whether the molybdenum rod blank undergoes sufficient deformation during the forging process.
